Provided - chart and  8" x 10" black canvas

You need to bring - 8" and 10" stretcher bars, tacks, usual stitching supplies

DMC Pearl Cotton - white, 310, 312, 322, 775, 823, 3325, 700, 701, 702, 703

a note from Donna - I finished my first version as a frameweight. I'm attempting a second version to attach to a canvas tote bag - we'll see if I get it done in time for the class because I'm off to Cape Cod for 10 days!

March Meeting Finishes

The box was handmade by Marge's husband to hold their collection of White House ornaments. Marge created her own bargello ornament design which came out beautifully!




The mermaid bookmark is Amanda's and it's finished with real shells. A terrific idea. Now to find some shells. Also that is Bev's Mystery Sampler stitched with the original colors.

Some Finishes for 2011

I thought I'd just start adding random photos of things that have been on the IF table this year. Though in the case of the two "remember me" pieces, those are from the Retreat. 


Tomorrow is our stumpwork class with Betsy. Bring your 4" hoops and other usual stitching supplies. For us counted people, this is a fun change of pace as we try to get our brains to think a little differently about stitching!

March Project

Stumpwork class with Betsy!

The project for March is a beginner level Stumpwork ornament.  It features a
raspberry with sepals, leaves and bud on a curved stem.  In the center area
of the stem is a spider sitting in her web.  The complete kit includes everything
needed to complete the ornament - silk Dupioni fabric, skirtex circles, cotton
batting, pearled silk thread, overdyed silk embroidery floss, metallic thread,
beads, felt and cording material.  In class we will 'doodle' all of the stitches
and techniques used in the design.  The finished ornament is 3 inches in
diameter.  The kit fee is $20.  Please bring a 4 inch hoop as well as your
usual stitching supplies to class.
