April IFFs

Looks like the nice weather has everyone outside gardening or just outside enjoying the sun as our usual bountiful table of IFFs wasn't overflowing. Next month, we might need two tables???

Phyllis showing off the goodies in the July opportunity basket. The theme is cupcakes! We have stitched goodies like the apron she's modeling. And goodies to stitch. And all kinds of cupcake stuff! Including two cupcake mysteries signed by the author!

Please support our guild by purchasing tickets from Phyllis at the May, June, and July meetings. Winner need not be present to win!

Retreat Review

What a wonderful weekend we had! Absolutely perfect weather on Saturday. Lots of shared goodies and laughter.

Here's Jane with the first finish of the weekend - 5:30 on Friday night!

Marge teaching Melissa about a TENS unit for her shoulder pain.

Oh so studious stitching on Saturday morning.

Donna P. has a beautiful beaded finish.

Walking around the grounds on Saturday.

A very successful weekend. We're all looking forward to next year!

April Class

Please join on April 25th for the "Holiday Square" class. This is a freebie project that can be found here on Rainbow Gallery.  Simply scroll down to locate chart and note the corrected thread number.

This one was easy for me to kit from home - stash shopping! But I did pick some silks and that meant using a laying tool.

Here's my way:

Regular meeting times - business meeting and class start are 10 a.m. for the morning meeting and 7:30 p.m. for the evening meeting. Come 1/2 hour early for social time!

Retreat

Today is the start of retreat weekend at Meadowkirk.

I look forward to posting about all our fun when I return.

Meanwhile, Wednesday, April 25th is our regular meeting day.

Join us either in the morning at 9:30 or the evening at 7:00. Or both times if you really, really like us!

We'll be working on a freebie canvas piece "Holiday Square" by Laura J. Perin which can be found online at the Rainbow Gallery website. Go to Rainbow Gallery, Free Charts, Needlepoint and scroll down. Please explore their website - they've got some great free charts. Next up for me is another Laura J. Perin piece,
"At the Ballpark."

Here's Donna's version of "Holiday Square" done with threads from my continually growing stash:

March Meeting

In March we had a presentation on aspects of Italian needlework by Anne, including a short and very informative piece on Catherine de Medici needlework and a hands on tassel class.

In other very important news, Anne located her misplaced bat!

Fabulous!

Betsy's new casket. This will be our June class!

Did anyone else notice this sign outside in the church parking lot? I don't know about the rest of you, but I didn't dare cross it!

Dogwood and cherry providing cheerful greetings to all who attended!

February Meeting

Jane gave a wonderful class on the joys of Kumihimo. We expected to see this embellishing projects for years to come!

A few goodies off the IFF Table from the morning meeting.

Somebody finished their scissor fob from January!

Stitch In Public Day

We were extremely fortunate this year to get some inside help and arranged to have our Stitch in Public Day on February 3rd at the Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.

Our new friend, Dwane, oops, I mean Joseph Henry, the first director of the Smithsonian, holding our sign.

We talked to lots of people from all across the globe. School groups on tours, Japanese tourists, British tourists, museum volunteers who came to ooh and ahh for us. It was a satisfying day. Thanks to our Oatlands members who found time to come and stitch in public!

I found this sweet child's embroidery frame on display in the main hall. It's from the 19th century and it's called the Little Embroiderer."

Ocean City

Some familiar faces from Oatlands. We're at the hotel at Mid-Atlantic Region's Camp Wanna-Stitch. It was a lovely, long weekend with lots accomplished.

Yes. We were the rowdy group.

Next year, consider joining us. This was my first year attending and I'll be going every year. There even was a finish or two to share with everyone!

January Meeting

We had a lovely meeting day in January. Sunny and a bit cold, but no snow and that's always a good thing!

Lots of clever things on the IFF Table like this sewing set:

Anne ran a quick business meeting and the new board was elected without incident.

More pretties from the IFF Table:

Donna P. was our teacher for the Mehitabel Scissor Fob. She brought some of her beading to inspire us all to greater things!
