Highlighting a Teacher

I was happy this morning to read the Needleprint blog and find news of Kimberly Servello. Some of us had a class with Kimberly a few years ago at MAR Seminar. You can read news of her here:

Kimberly has her own blog, Baroque Embellishments. Absolutely gorgeous things featured here by an extremely talented person.

July Meeting

We had a lovely Saturday meeting on July 23rd. Lots of members in attendance and a terrific class with Catherine Jordan. 

Here are a few photos from the President's Challenge. 

Donna P. cleverly used the doodle silk from Betsy's stumpwork class to create this design for her sunflower needle minder.

Beverly, of course, used queen stitch on hers.

Barbara created with wonderful cat singing on the fence at dusk.

Peggy created with beautiful crazy quilt piece around her cat magnet.

Donna L. set a viking ship to sail on a piece of four-way bargello.

Jane made a custom designed needle minder to match her fabulously batty bellpull hardware.

Amanda designed a replacement for her long lost name tag in this cheerful and bright design.

Bargello with a Preppy Twist

Provided - chart and  8" x 10" black canvas

You need to bring - 8" and 10" stretcher bars, tacks, usual stitching supplies

a note from Donna - I finished my first version as a frameweight. I'm attempting a second version to attach to a canvas tote bag - we'll see if I get it done in time for the class because I'm off to Cape Cod for 10 days!

March Meeting Finishes

The box was handmade by Marge's husband to hold their collection of White House ornaments. Marge created her own bargello ornament design which came out beautifully!




The mermaid bookmark is Amanda's and it's finished with real shells. A terrific idea. Now to find some shells. Also that is Bev's Mystery Sampler stitched with the original colors.


How cute is this? A cherry pie by Marge.

Quaker pendants by Donna P. who also had a beautiful hardanger card. I should have put a quarter beside them before taking the photo. They are not very big...

Some Finishes for 2011

I thought I'd just start adding random photos of things that have been on the IF table this year. Though in the case of the two "remember me" pieces, those are from the Retreat. 


Tomorrow is our stumpwork class with Betsy. Bring your 4" hoops and other usual stitching supplies. For us counted people, this is a fun change of pace as we try to get our brains to think a little differently about stitching!
